Marka-e-Haq One Year Anniversary: PAF 8-0 India Remembered

A year ago, the skies of South Asia witnessed something that the world had never seen before. On the night of May 6 and 7, 2025, Pakistan Air Force rose to defend its homeland with a precision and ferocity that left the entire region stunned. Today, as Pakistan marks the Marka-e-Haq one year anniversary, the nation looks back at those historic 87 hours with immense pride, gratitude, and a renewed sense of national confidence. What Pakistan’s armed forces achieved in those hours was not just a military victory. It was a defining moment in the history of this nation.

What Was Marka-e-Haq and How Did It Begin?

The Marka-e-Haq one year anniversary brings back memories of a crisis that began with a tragic incident on April 22, 2025. India blamed Pakistan within minutes of a terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, without any investigation or evidence. Pakistan denied any involvement and offered a neutral international investigation, which India rejected.

On the night of May 6 and 7, India launched what it called a military operation against Pakistan, attacking targets on Pakistani soil. It was a grave miscalculation. The Pakistan Air Force vs Indian Air Force 2025 engagement that followed was described by military analysts as one of the largest beyond-visual-range aerial battles since the Second World War. More than 114 aircraft were involved, 72 from India and 42 from Pakistan, in a confrontation that would rewrite the military calculus of the entire region.

Pakistan did not flinch. The PAF had declared its highest alert level from the moment tensions began escalating after Pahalgam. Full-spectrum surveillance, combat air patrols, scrambles, and round-the-clock monitoring of enemy movements meant that when India finally struck, Pakistan was ready. The Pakistan Air Force vs Indian Air Force 2025 clash ended in a result that shocked the world.

PAF 8-0: How Pakistan Shot Down Eight Indian Aircraft

The headline that shook the world was simple and stunning. PAF 8-0 India Rafale jets and other aircraft brought down in a single engagement. At the first anniversary press conference, Air Vice Marshal Tariq Ghazi confirmed that the Pakistan Air Force achieved an 8-0 outcome against the Indian Air Force during the Marka-e-Haq one year anniversary briefing held in Rawalpindi.

The breakdown of the PAF 8-0 India Rafale jets and other assets destroyed tells the full story of just how complete Pakistan’s aerial dominance was. Four Dassault Rafale jets, considered among the most advanced fighter aircraft in the world, were shot down. One Sukhoi Su-30, one MiG-29, one Mirage 2000, and one expensive multi-role unmanned aerial system were also destroyed. Several additional Indian aircraft sustained damage so severe they could not be repaired afterwards.

The Air Vice Marshal stated that PAF closely monitored every single move made by the Indian Air Force throughout the entire operation. On April 29, even before the main conflict began, four Rafale aircraft attempted to enter the Kashmir region and were immediately intercepted and forced to withdraw. When India attacked on the night of May 6, the PAF operational packages engaged key enemy assets with such speed and precision that the 8-0 score was established within minutes. India was still trying to understand what had happened when the result was already decided.

Pakistan’s cyber division also played a crucial role. The PAF’s cyber Shaheens targeted Indian data infrastructure and disrupted enemy communications throughout the operation, adding a new dimension to what the Air Chief Marshal described as truly multi-domain warfare unprecedented in the history of the Pakistan Air Force.

Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos: Pakistan Strikes Back

India made a catastrophic second mistake on the night of May 9 and 10 when it struck Pakistan Air Force bases, crossing a threshold that could not go unanswered. Pakistan’s response was swift, coordinated, and devastating. Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos Pakistan was launched as a full-scale retaliatory operation that demonstrated only a fraction of what Pakistan’s armed forces are truly capable of.

Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos Pakistan targeted at least 18 Indian air bases, command and control nodes, two BrahMos missile storage facilities, two S-400 air defence batteries, field supply depots, brigade headquarters, and intelligence centres. The strikes employed PAF air assets alongside Fatah-1 and Fatah-2 short-range ballistic missiles in a coordinated assault that left India unable to sustain the exchange on its own terms.

The Pakistan Air Force vs Indian Air Force 2025 engagement was not limited to the skies alone. Pakistan Navy stood vigilant across its maritime zones, ensuring India’s much-publicised aircraft carrier group had no appetite for confrontation at sea. Rear Admiral Shifaat Ali Khan confirmed at the anniversary press conference that Pakistan’s naval and air forces had fully prepared contingency plans to destroy the Indian aircraft carrier INS Vikrant if required. India’s naval forces ultimately remained confined to their own waters throughout the entire confrontation.

Faced with the scale and precision of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos Pakistan, India sought a ceasefire through the United States on May 10, bringing the 87-hour conflict to an end. Pakistan had not just defended itself. It had delivered a decisive defeat to an adversary five times its size.

One Year Later: DG ISPR’s Message to the Nation

At the DG ISPR Marka-e-Haq press conference held in Rawalpindi on May 7, 2026, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry congratulated the nation on the first anniversary of this historic victory. He stated clearly that no one can harm Pakistan, and that the country’s armed forces had inflicted a crushing and humiliating defeat on an adversary five times larger across air, land, sea, cyber, and cognitive domains simultaneously.

The DG ISPR Marka-e-Haq press conference also addressed what came after the conflict. He revealed that following the lesson of Marka-e-Haq, India turned to militant proxies as its new preferred strategy, leading to an increase in terrorist incidents inside Pakistan. Pakistan responded by targeting alleged terrorist infrastructure in neighbouring Afghanistan in October 2025, after which the number of attacks declined significantly.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, speaking at a separate ceremony at Air Headquarters Islamabad, said the Marka-e-Haq one year anniversary is a moment to honour every PAF personnel who rose with discipline and determination to defend the homeland. He said Pakistan’s success was the result of a unified national response, years of relentless modernisation, and the blessings of Almighty Allah.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar summed it up best. He said this anniversary is not just a date on the calendar. It is a story of courage, unity, and unwavering resolve. A story where every soldier stood firm and every citizen stood behind them. PAF 8-0 India Rafale jets, Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos Pakistan, and the words of the DG ISPR Marka-e-Haq press conference all tell the same story. Pakistan was tested. Pakistan stood firm. Pakistan won.
