Hyderabad Kingsmen Reach PSL 11 Final, Complete Match Review

Pakistan Super League this season has been full of excitement from the very beginning, but the PSL 11 Eliminator 2 result broke all records. Hyderabad Kingsmen PSL 11 Final spot is now confirmed and the world will now witness a new champion being crowned. In the match played at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore on May 1, Kingsmen beat Islamabad United by just 2 runs and won the hearts of cricket fans across Pakistan.

This team has reached the final in their very debut season — and that is no small achievement.

Usman Khan and Kusal Perera Saved the Innings

The match did not start well for Kingsmen at all. In the very first over, Maaz Sadaqat was dismissed for a duck. Saim Ayub and captain Marnus Labuschagne steadied the innings with a 70-run partnership, but in the 12th over, Imad Wasim sent both Labuschagne and Glenn Maxwell back to the pavilion in a single over. The team was at 85/4 and the pressure was immense.

That was the moment when the Usman Khan Kusal Perera partnership turned the entire match around. The two combined for a jaw-dropping 101-run stand for the 5th wicket off just 50 balls. Usman Khan walked away unbeaten on 61 off 30 balls — with 10 boundaries. Kusal Perera scored 37 off 21 balls to push the innings to 186/5. Had this partnership not happened, the story might have been very different.

Hunain Shah’s Last Over : The Hero of the Night

Hunain Shah last over PSL — this phrase is trending all across Pakistan today and will continue to do so. Islamabad United needed just 6 runs off the final over and the match looked firmly in their hands. Faheem Ashraf and Chris Green had smashed 22 runs off Mohammad Ali in the 19th over — the momentum had completely shifted towards United.

But Hunain Shah had other plans. He bowled the first ball of the final over as a dot, then delivered 5 consecutive yorkers. The third yorker took the wicket of Faheem Ashraf. On the final ball, United needed 4 runs — but only 1 leg bye came off it. Kingsmen won by 2 runs.

Hunain was named Player of the Match. His brother Naseem Shah must be feeling immensely proud. This over will go down as one of the best death overs in PSL history.

Islamabad United So Close Yet So Far

Islamabad United PSL 11 out — hearing this is heartbreaking for the fans of a three-time champion team. United’s start was poor as Sameer Minhas and Mohsin Riaz were both dismissed with just 15 runs on the board. Devon Conway contributed 30 runs, Shadab Khan scored 22, and Mark Chapman played an aggressive innings of 43 runs — but his wicket fell at the wrong time.

After Chapman’s dismissal, United needed 55 runs off 55 balls — very much do-able. Then Faheem and Green’s 22-run blitz in the 19th over stopped everyone’s breath. But there was no answer to Hunain in the end. The three-time PSL champions’ journey ended right here.
